MENTAL ILLNESS & CREATIVITY

My take on creativity is that it follows a cyclical progression that may be linear or non-linear. The words I have found that describe my creative process are- inspiration, at least partial detachment from reality, focusing of attention, and intensifying of concentration. Other factors include the medium selected, the form or structure selected, and the mechanics demanded by the medium selected. In addition, there is the editing and re-editing of the project and the decision when the project is completed. Finally, at any point in the process there can be a return to reality.

Inspiration, in my experience, is a pleasurable and compelling form of intoxication.
