American Paranoia

American Paranoia begins where my portfolio American Dread leaves off. The images represent the expression of, or the coping with, the feeling of being threatened by the other. Feeling threatened by the other exists in the political left, the political right, between classes and cultures, and is one of the drivers of the long history of racism in America.

Like American Dread, the images are derived from a visual diary of my routine life. The images do not make a distinction between Left or Right, right or wrong, paranoia based on fact or fantasy, or paranoia in response to a situation or biochemical imbalance.
